Getting the Right Things Done

Pascal Dennis

It is really hard to explicitly sum up this book. On the one hand, it has got all features of the book from "how to initate lean in a company"series. On the other hand, one may have an impression that this particular book was written only for Americans. What does "for Americans" mean? Well, big amount of pictures, (sometimes repeating up to 3 times), small amount of text,  practically only dialogues... This particular book is good for people who are beginners at initating lean and for those who are administriating, however, with very little knowledge in terms of lean manufacturing.
It is possible to read it within one afternoon but we have to keep in mind that one can use it very frequently because it contains a lot of practical and vital information and different form templates.

Doskonalenie Przepływu Materiałów

Rick Harris, Chris Harris i Earl Wilson

LEI

This is the next publication after "Learn to see". As far as the first one was focused on the beginnings and the basis (Value Stream Mapping), insomuch DPM develops the range of changes in company to a given materials handling.
"Learn to see" was describing the range of changes in terms of one factory (door-to-door), however, "Making Materials Flow" exceeds beyond the factory, up to the value stream, thus to our customers. This book is suitable for the people working in material, logistic or supply chain departments...

Learning to see

Mike Rother, John Shook

LEI

Obligatory publication for the people wanting to map different kinds of value streams. This particular book describes, in a very clear and accessible way, how to easily make, on your own, the value stream mapping step by step. Frankly speaking, this is not expendable book -  publication which you can put away. Everytime we set to mapping it is worth looking and flicking through this book, even though, to consolidate the rules in which we should start our work.

The Machine that Changed the World

James P. Womack, Daniel T. Jones

Prodpress, 2008

"The Machine That Changed The World" is the book, which appeared the first time in 1990 but in this year it was published (for the first time too) in Polish language. As we can see, within 18 years all statements and conclusions, which are included in this particular book, are still up to date.
It is the first book written by Womack & Jones dueal which sums up results of their research concerning competitiveness of the automotive branch and a lot of very interesting examples which shows that slim production has its own and unique sens.

Toyota Way

Jeffrey K. LikerThe

MT Biznes

In the "Road of Toyota" author reveals 14 fundamental rules of administrating which are based on Toyota's famous system called "Slim Production". In this publication you will find some interesting facts connected with the history of the company, description of the TPS rules, but what is the most important aspect , is the culture of the Japanese people.
The main issue, appearing throughout the book, is the attitude towards workers and initiating various projects....obviously purely Japanese. I do not have to add that this book differs significantly from American or European style. Thus this is one of the reasons why you should look into it. I recommend this book as "must read" :)

Lean Solutions

James P. Womack, Daniel T. Jones

Simon & Schuster, 2005

Another book written by Womak & Jones duel. As far as "Lean thinking" focuses on the company's processes and problems, insomuch "Lean Solutions" gets out far beyond the area of production and shows magnitude waste we have to deal with in each company aside from a branch. In a very accessible way (this is a standard) they try to change reader's point of view on the inside-company processes and shows so called "lean way" in everyday management. They give many examples - from flowing in a car service, through helpdesk organization to even markets' delivery. Everything is based on their own experience.......in conclusion, they're implementing lean in Tesco ...

LEAN Thinking
James P. Womack, Daniel T. Jones
Simon & Schuster, 1996

This book, which except "The Machine That Changed The World",  revolutionized traditional attitude towards production processes. It is obligatory position for future "LEANowców". It explains in a very accessible way what we understand  through LEAN and its principal motto "muda elimination" (elimination of  waste).
